This multidisciplinary team of internationally-recognized researchers will develop an edited collection on humility in inquiry, co-edited by Schwarz and Ballantyne, published by a leading academic press.
This group will be assembled to work on a co-edited collection (by Schwarz and Ballantyne) tentatively titled Humility in Inquiry: How Can We Keep an Open Mind? The collection will feature approximately 15–20 chapters by internationally recognized scholars as well as the co-editors’ introduction. Some of the authors in this group have already been selected; others will be identified through discussions in the HI Seminar. Furthermore, at least one chapter will be written by members of an RFP sub-award team. Some members of the leadership team (Dunning, Kornblith, and Schwarz) will also contribute chapters. The co-editors will secure a contract for the volume with a top academic press, such as Oxford University Press or Cambridge University Press. The main goal of the Collection Group will be to move the “state of the art” a good distance along the road. The Collection Group will meet in a retreat-style workshop DATE. The collection itself will describe a broad, multidisciplinary approach to studying HI. It will codify key insights from past research, articulate new ideas that advance our understanding of HI, and pose key questions that await future investigation. The collection will provide an opportunity for researchers in many fields to frame their own research as a contribution to this paradigm of investigation of IH. The collection will be a rich, deep resource for both future scholarship and graduate-level teaching.
